3 Phrases of Generative Social Media
We’re seeing many AI tools integrate an increasing number of models—like Windsurf, which already incorporates over twenty models, and some AI content creation platforms even integrate hundreds.
But in reality, for the general public users, they can’t even distinguish between those model names—they just need a packaged, ready-to-use, top-performing tool or engine, not a process where they have to choose models themselves.
If we compare the current product landscape to an Apple II, which still allows for some DIY, what the mass user needs is a Macintosh.
So I firmly believe there will be three phases in how the next generation social media platform, built on generative AI, would evolve:
Phase 1 is when early adopters collaborate with multiple AI creative models.
Most of these users are AI enthusiasts and professionals, and many have some basic knowledge of AI and its creative models.
Phase 2 is when more general public users start to try to use AI to create things.
Most of them won’t care about the models they are using; they only care about the outcome and performance. Thus, products need to curate the best models for them and package all the models and workflows into an all-in-one creative engine, which users only need to interact with.
Phase 3 is when AI could generate fully personalized, on-demand, and real-time content for every user.
What will future creative and social networks look like? Do we still need human creators when Phase 3 becomes a reality?
It is certain that we will see an increasingly large number of AI celebrities, AI influencers, AI artists, AI novelists, and so on.
However, beyond efficiency, while AI may largely replace humans, human creators and AI creators are likely to coexist in the creative field.
